The Beauty of Shades

let’s hike beneath beech
and old oak canopies
take long loopy trails
among tulip trees
let’s stroll along streams
beside mossy sheer walls
where rocky ravines rise
past cascading waterfalls
we’ll spot heron on the banks
paddle down Sugar Creek
stop at a sandy isle
where kayakers meet
let’s chase shiny minnows
skip stones till light fades
and creatures prep for the night
in the beauty of Shades
